Intergenerational Opportunities

Working together, we can offer work experience for students from the University, new employment with local organisations, great events, a befriending scheme for the elderly and annual festivals.

Welcome to Roehampton Focus

Roehampton Focus was set up to very specifically support the residents of Roehampton in a number of different ways.  Its purpose is to provide an opportunity, where people living, studying or working in Roehampton are encouraged to freely exchange views on matters that concern them as well as initiating solutions to those concerns.  The organisation is also very keen to provide intergenerational opportunities which will help build a cohesive community that benefits all age groups.  As an integral part of the organisation and to further the development of current community-based outreach, we have set up a “Jim McKinney Memorial Fund” which we hope will provide support to organisations as well as keep Jim’s memory alive.

Rev Jim McKinney was Vicar of Roehampton for 23 years and was involved in all areas of the community and was regularly seen on the streets, in the pubs and of course in Holy Trinity Church, Roehampton.  Prior to this post, he was Parish Priest in Doncaster and throughout his time in Wandsworth, he Chaired the Wandsworth Community Empowerment Fund, was involved with Roehampton University, Chaired Regenerate for a year, Chair of Governors for Roehampton Church School, set up and Chaired the Roehampton Forum and was well loved by everyone.   He will be missed greatly and it is our hope that his memory will live on in Roehampton and if we can help facilitate that, we will be very glad to do so.

Regenerate-RISE & Covid-19

Our response to the coronavirus pandemic

The Platt Christian Centre has been the home of Regenerate-RISE for 15 years and the landlord, Livability have decided to sell the Centre.  We have been given until 30 September 2020 to exchange contracts and we are therefore organising a fundraising week 19 – 26 September 2020 to raise as much as we can.  Our vision for the Reablement Centre still stands and once we have purchased the freehold, we will start again with planning the Reablement Centre.

Volunteering at RISE

Volunteering is a very rewarding experience as it really is making a difference to the lives of other people in the local community.  There are a number of different ways that you could help us and here are some of them

  • Delivering lunches  to the isolated elderly – mornings only
  • Befriending an older person and visiting weekly or fortnightly
  • Telephoning an older person on a weekly basis
  • Organising a fundraising event
  • Helping out at either St Michael’s in Battersea or the Platt Mission in Putney any day of the week morning or afternoon

If you are a Company and would like to volunteer with us, please email and you can help us organise a tea party, albeit socially distancing and outdoors .

To volunteer with us on a regular basis, you will need to complete an application form.  We would send for references and carry out an Enhanced DBS.  We are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and are unable to recruit volunteers with a criminal record.  If you would like to sign up, please contact us via email and we will send you the application form.  We do require volunteers to have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
